All About Beaverton Series

The purpose of Beaverton is to alert our youngest generations and explain the fundamental issues of climate change and the dangers and consequences of inaction in a very educational and entertaining way.

These stories are told through the lives of animal characters living in a small Northwestern USA town called Beaverton.

The main character is Bobo the Beaver, who lives in a family of engineers and architects.

Bobo is in 5th grade and has friends known simply as the pack. In each story, the pack is challenged to solve a problem related to climate degradation affecting daily life.

It explores issues such as deforestation, solar energy and electric vehicles, recycling, wildfires, the extraction and consumption of fossil fuels, unsustainable farming and food production, the importance of coral reef conservation, extinction of wildlife, poaching, as well as an increase in weather anomalies and catastrophes such as storms, droughts, floods, melting glaciers, and sea level rise, lack of clean water, etc.

The story themes are inclusive of all make-ups of modern society.

Author

Boris Simic is an American author, born in Sarajevo, Bosnia, in the mid-eighties to a family of architects and engineers. As many had to, Boris, his older brother, and his mom fled the violent wars in the Balkans during the early 90’s. At seven, Boris and his family found refuge in Germany, where they lived for two years.

Once the family reunited with his father, Boris’ family moved to Louisville, Kentucky, USA, to start a new life in the land of opportunity. Boris’s parents began an architectural and construction business where Boris became skilled in the art of woodworking and construction.

After high school, Boris moved north to Chicago and earned a degree in Business and Marketing from DePaul University. After graduating, Boris moved back to Louisville and continued growing the family business while reawakening his lifelong passion for writing.

Beaverton, however, is the first piece of work to get published.
